Job postings rise in UK

The number of job postings for sales recruitment positions and other occupations rose in the third quarter of the year, according to the latest statistics.

Figures from MyJobGroup.co.uk indicate that the UK saw an average increase of 17 per cent in job postings from the second quarter of 2010 to the third, with Greater Manchester witnessing the largest rise at 34 per cent.

Lee Fayer, managing director of MyJobGroup.co.uk, said that despite the increased uncertainty for almost half a million public sector workers, the recruitment sector should take encouragement from the results.

"Although there is likely to be an increased worry about the jobs market, it's still promising to see a strong performance from cities in the Midlands, especially as the rate of job expansion outperforms the capital's growth by a notable amount," he added.

It comes after Reed's latest Jobs Index, which analyses online job boards to track the number of opportunities in sales recruitment and other sectors, rose three points last month to 107.
