Martin Hill at Dell Education Services made the remarks after an Everest Group report for the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) showed that outsourcing in the UK's IT sector could increase by a massive 600 per cent over the next ten years.
However, Mr Hill said that firms should be looking at how they can nurture and develop the skill sets of existing employees to avoid having to outsource work, and bringing in staff who can boost productivity.
"Developing the IT skills of existing staff across the workforce improves their ability to maximise the potential of existing technology to increase business performance, reduces the pressure on under-resourced IT departments and boosts morale," he noted.
It comes after the FDM Group claimed that there is set to be a rise in the number of graduates being employed in IT sales recruitment roles and other positions in the information technology sector in the coming months.
