Recruitment professional Chimene Felton told the Shropshire Star that the competitive jobs market means there is little margin for error in the recruitment process so it is essential that CVs are professional and tailored towards the job being applied for.
She explained that the biggest mistake many people make is to fail to proofread and therefore miss errors with spelling and punctuation - something that can lead to their CV being disregarded instantly.
Ms Felton also advised hopefuls to be serious when adding email addresses, as ones with humorous names are unlikely to be found funny by recruiters.
Finally, she advised people to ensure that their covering letter or email matches the tone of the CV and comes across as being professional, as this is likely to impress potential employers immediately.
Recently, Kirsten Hines, writing for Helium.com, said that confidence is the key for sales recruitment candidates, as this will be conveyed during the interview and be viewed positively by recruiters.
