The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is designed with a manually-adjusted backlight, making it the first device in the range that can still be functional in the dark.
Designed with touchscreen capabilities, the device will also present a higher definition than its predecessors for added comfort on the eyes.
The Kindle Paperwhite will retail for £109 on October 25th, though customers can preorder their gadget from today.
Meanwhile, the Lending Library programme provides Kindle owners with the opportunity to expand their literary knowledge.
This is because the strategy will allow users to borrow one book per month from a selection of 200,000 titles and read them for free on a Kindle.
Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and its chief executive, said: "We're already seeing the programme's success in the US for both readers and authors - customers are reading more and authors are reaching a whole new audience while making money in a new way."
