Sales recruitment candidates 'should sing and dance' about achievements

Sales recruitment candidates should not be afraid to "sing and dance" about their past achievements to boost their chances of gaining new employment, one expert has advised.

Dominic Warman, manager of executive search at Handle, said many applicants make the mistake of not highlighting relevant experience, but this is vital when applying for a job in a competitive jobs market – particularly when it comes to sales roles.

His comments follow the publication of a report by his organisation, which showed there was a 40 per cent upswing in jobs growth in the media sector between January and February as companies become more optimistic about the employment market.

Mr Warman noted that this renewed interest means that applicants – including those re-entering the market – need to use every tool at their disposal to illustrate their suitability for the job.

"You need to see CVs about percentage uplifts you've given a particular area, your biggest clients, what you've gained, these sorts of things. Sing and dance about achievements on your CV," the expert explained.
