Sales recruitment could well increase due to rising business confidence, which is improving employers' outlook for the year ahead, the March Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) JobsOutlook report found.
For the third month in a row, the REC Confidence Index has risen to the highest level since last April.
Even though there are continuing uncertainties in the UK jobs market, 17 per cent of companies plan to increase their permanent workforce over the next three months.
Roger Tweedy, REC's director of research, said: "It is encouraging to see confidence levels continuing to rise despite economic uncertainties in the run-up to the forthcoming Budget."
He added: "The government must do everything possible to stimulate employment in the private sector to absorb public sector cuts."
Chris Williamson, director and chief economist at Markit, recently said the latest Office for National Statistics' data demonstrates there has been a rise in private sector recruitment.
