The Association of Executive Search Consultants' (AESC's) 2010 Annual Report on the retained executive search industry shows that executive recruiting is now at its third highest level ever.
This is mainly due to a "dramatic resurgence" in demand last year, said Peter Felix, president of the AESC.
He noted that, overall, the industry grew by an average of 28.5 per cent in 2010, as organisations around the world were quick to realise that a shortage of talent is being exacerbated by the "tremendous tasks" facing management.
"Leadership today is at a premium since organisations cannot ignore the challenges of new competition, evolving technology, industry convergence and globalisation," Mr Felix added.
It follows an international survey carried out by Antal which showed that 52 per cent of firms will be taking on new staff in the next three months, while many are also focused on implementing staff retention measures.
