Jes Ladva, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's London regional director, made the comments after new figures revealed the number of people out of work in the capital rose slightly in the last quarter.
However, he noted that this may be because the private sector has yet to fully absorb the number of public sector workers being made redundant – a problem which will be solved in the months ahead, particularly with the Olympics on the horizon.
"There are glimmers of hope and optimism for not just London but the rest of the UK. This should lead to the creation of even more jobs while the feel-good factor the event will engender should in turn contribute to a more bullish economy," Mr Ladva added.
Last week, Chris Williamson, director and chief economist at Markit, said the recent government employment figures suggest there has been a positive upturn in private sector recruitment following the disruption caused by the severe weather late last year.
