Firms 'should provide greater opportunities for development'

Greater opportunity for professional development needs to be provided by firms if they are to retain top talent, a new report has found.

Research carried out by Accenture shows that fewer than half of all workers are currently satisfied with jobs, but 70 per cent plan to stay with the company regardless.

Adrian Lajtha, chief leadership officer at Accenture, said the data shows that employees lack engagement and motivation and this is something which firms should aim to address.

He suggested that this could be achieved through listening to employees and providing them with innovative training, leadership development and clearly-defined career paths.

Nellie Borrero, inclusion and diversity lead at Accenture, added: "As those employees look to reinvent opportunity, companies can help them by creating a culture of mentoring, developing diverse teams that provide new experiences."

A recent survey carried out by Aaron Wallis Sales Recruitment showed that 96 per cent of sales professionals enjoy working in the sector, despite 56 per cent not planning a career in sales.

Aaron Wallis are a Milton Keynes Sales Recruitment agency with a unique service offering that includes 12 months rebate. Psychometric profiling and online skills testing are also included within a fixed recruitment price.
