Data published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG in the Report on Jobs shows that both permanent and temporary placements rose once more in December.
The report also identified that there was a strong rise in the demand for staff, while salaries for permanent workers increased at a faster pace than in November.
Kevin Green, REC's chief executive, said that the figures show that the private sector employment market is continuing to do well.
"The next few months will be very tough for the jobs market in the UK, but we are delighted that the government is saying it intends to be pro business, pro growth and pro jobs," he added.
According to Mark Riley, marketing manager of My Job Group, yesterday (January 11th) was the busiest day of the year for people going online and looking for new jobs, such as those in sales recruitment.
