According to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), now is the time for firms to think about how they can take on new employees, such as those in sales recruitment positions, and stimulate recovery.
"Job creation is key in kick-starting meaningful economic growth. Over the last decade small firms have been responsible for more than 80 per cent of new jobs in the private sector. And they will do this again - but only if the conditions are right," said John Walker, national chairman of the FSB.
However, he said that the "ever-changing" employment laws in the UK are putting some firms off hiring – something which needs to be addressed by the government if recruitment is to increase.
Last week, John Philpott, chief economic adviser to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, said the strong growth in the jobs market in 2010 should be sustained this year and help to offset the impact of predicted job losses.
