Small businesses 'depending on easier recruitment processes'

Small businesses in the UK are highly dependent on new, skilled staff and this can be achieved through simplifying the recruitment process, according to one sector body.

David Frost, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, welcomed the coalition government's pledge to make private sector job creation easier by cutting red tape and said that this will lead to more workers being hired, which includes those in sales recruitment.

As job creation is vital to continued economic recovery, Mr Frost pointed out that boosting the confidence of small and medium-sized firms to recruit the right workers is a step in the right direction.

"Some of the proposals aired by the government, including reform of employment tribunals and a radical reduction in regulation for small business, would make a big difference," he added.

However, Mr Frost noted that the coalition needs to highlight exactly what it plans to do to simplify the recruitment process for small and medium-sized firms and remove the obstacles which have stifled job creation for some in the last couple of years.
