Research carried out by O2 Pocket Hotspot revealed that there has been a 50 per cent rise in the number of people conducting work flexibly during London's busiest period of the year.
On top of this, a 30 per cent increase was noticed in staff members who have opted to work from home during the duration of London 2012.
Gary Booker, GM consumer at O2, commented: "This week we've truly become a nation of mobile workers. For huge numbers of people, where they work doesn't matter if they are productive, [they] have embraced that philosophy."
The O2 Pocket Hotspot study has also highlighted that flexible working seems to be becoming more popular in general.
Outside of the attractions of the summer, 59 per cent of employees state that they will work flexibly on occasion and 52 per cent said they work from home on regular intervals.
Separate research by Harvey Nash and London Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently found that four in five firms in London are giving their staff members a helping hand by teleworking during the Olympic Games.
