Job security was one of the major bright spots in this month's survey; the trend of improvement remains intact with 76 per cent reporting no change in the security of their job in August, compared with July, while eight per cent say they are in a more comfortable situation.
The labour market improvement is borne out in the official data, which shows the economy added almost 6,000 jobs in July.
The youngest survey respondents – those aged between 18 and 34 - reported the most improvement, and for the first time since the survey began, the net balance of those reporting improved job security is positive.
More respondents said that their job security had improved, compared with the number who said they felt less secure.
Improving job prospects likely reflects a pick-up in business activity, with 23 per cent of employees indicating that activity at their workplace is higher than in July, against just 17 per cent who say it is lower.
Meanwhile, 32 per cent envisage further improvement over the coming year, with just 15 per cent expecting deterioration.
