Jobseeker confidence 'is soaring'

Jobseeker confidence has expanded exponentially over the past 12 months, according to a new study that canvassed the opinions of people from across the UK.

According to the poll, carried out by TotalJobs, the number of unemployed people confident in finding a job in the next year has jumped from 51 per cent in 2011 to 64 per cent this year.

Furthermore, the percentage of unemployed people out of work for longer than 12 months has dropped by two per cent to 16 per cent.

Flexibility may be one reason why prospects have been enhanced, with seven out of ten of those surveyed prepared to take a job they are over-qualified for, while 43 per cent would accept a pay cut and 63 per cent are willing to take on part-time work.

John Salt, website director at TotalJobs.com, said that jobseekers are clearly starting to see rays of hope amongst the gloom of the ongoing economic crisis.

"The recruitment market is feeling rejuvenated, with UK plc and jobseekers finally waking up to the need to be flexible, and businesses are now willing to accommodate part-time work to retain good staff or cut costs," he added.
