That is the opinion of Kevin Green, chairman of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, who told the BBC's Wake up to Money podcast that the employment situation in the UK will depend greatly on the satisfaction of these criteria.
"Sectors most likely to recruit are those wherever there's a shortage of skills and talent, so industries such as engineering, oil and gas, IT, as well as some of the catering sectors," he explained.
Mr Green said that, in many cases, it tends to be the professional and managerial positions where people do not have the skills and capability to do the jobs which are available and so the finest candidates will be strongly in contention.
The expert acknowledged that the UK has had a "fantastic run" in terms of the labour market, which has done "incredibly well" thanks to falling unemployment and rising employment even during an economic downturn.
