Data compiled by Hays shows that 55 per cent of sales mangers claim that there has been a rise in the number of applications for sales jobs since last year, while 58 per cent of staff already working in the sector are planning on a long-term career within it.
According to the statistics, 35 per cent of workers in the industry are now educated to degree level, something which does not surprise Geoff Sims, managing director of the organisation.
"A clear career path is always a strong draw for graduates and it is increasingly being recognised that [the profession] offers excellent opportunities for progression," he stated.
It comes after Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said that the recent fall in UK unemployment is good news for the recruitment sector and is an indication of stability.
