The Home Learning College pointed out that 54 per cent of jobseekers are currently considering further study in the sector they are hoping to enter in order to boost their employment prospects.
It comes after a report carried out by the organisation found that 32 per cent of people hoping to move into an industry believe that a lack of relevant qualifications is holding them back.
Dave Snow, academic director at Home Learning College, said the volume of applications for each vacancy means that employers are paying greater attention to candidates' educational history.
"Ambitious jobseekers are recognising that targeted vocational qualifications can add real value to their CV, helping to underpin and expand existing skills and experience," he added.
Recently, Carl Andrew, writing for the Guardian, said it is important for students to consider the industry they are applying for and how the experience they have will be relevant to their application.
