Candidates 'offered a huge range' of IT careers

There is a wide range of IT careers available for candidates prepared to look, one expert on the subject has suggested.

Maggie Berry, managing director of womenintechnology.co.uk, said that one of the issues with the IT sector is that the variety of roles available is not well-known.

"There's a huge range of different careers in IT and they could be quite different, but they are still under this one umbrella of working in information technology. There are so many different things in it that it is quite difficult for people to get their head around," she explained.

Ms Berry's comments follow the publication of a report by the website, which claimed that more could still be done to improve the profile of IT as a career choice.

However, Ms Berry said that the IT industry is only likely to get bigger in the coming years, leading to job creation and more diverse roles being created.
