Data published in the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs shows that both permanent and temporary placements increased in the UK last month, marking the tenth consecutive month of growth.
Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG, said that demand for staff is particularly growing in the private sector.
"The big question is whether the private sector can create new jobs in sufficient numbers and quickly enough to offset the downturn in the public sector," Mr Brown explained.
It comes after research carried out by global analyst Gartner revealed that the majority of European organisations are planning to outsource more frequently in the coming months.
According to the data, 53 per cent of firms will outsource more in 2010, based on the opinions of decision makers in 206 organisations across the continent.
